MAI/ARTAS (Antiretroviral Treatment Access Services)

The Florida Department of Health, Bureau of HIV/AIDS uses the Minority AIDS Initiative Antiretroviral Treatment Access Study (MAI-ARTAS) program to identify HIV-infected persons and link them to medical care. The program is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and efforts are focused on minority populations/communities in order to reduce health disparities. The MAI-ARTAS program addresses all three goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS):

  1. Reduce the number of people who become infected with HIV;
  2. Increase access to care and improve health outcomes for people living with HIV;
  3. Reduce HIV-related health disparities.
