The Center for Multicultural Wellness and Prevention, Inc was founded in 1995 by a group of health educators, minority advocates and concerned citizens from Orange County. The group wanted to address health and wellness issues in the minority communities in Central Florida.  The staff and board reflect the community to which CMWP serves. Since 1996, the board has supported the Center’s mission, by being actively involved on a voluntary basis in all activities in which the Center has been engaged.

CMWP is a non-clinical, health referral agency that provides education and prevention services to uninsured and undeserved African-Americans, Hispanics and people from the Caribbean. The core of this organization is to educate those in the targeted communities about diverse racial and ethnic health issues through education, prevention, case management, and to facilitate access to Health Care Services throughout Central Florida. CMWP is dedicated to developing a community that fosters and supports optimal health for everyone through health fairs, street outreach, seminars, cultural diversity workshops, and neighborhood events. HIV/AIDS, cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, cardiovascular diseases, women’s health issues, and diabetes are just some of the health subjects that CMWP is committed to address in the targeted populations.
